    Poblem with custom shows (2000)

    I have a PP with 29 slides and on the first slide I have two buttons for the user to select. One button is to give the user a custom show of only about 11 of the slides, the other button gives the user a custom show of all of the slides. The code to handle these two buttons are shown below. The buttons work but there is a problem after the first running. What ever the first choice was that is the one that is used when the PP is run again( same instance just started over on Slide one ) and the other presetnation type is selected. In other words, if the first time the short version is selected, and then running again the full version is selected, only the short version is run, etc.

    Private Sub ShowAll_Click()

    SlideShowWindows(Index:=1).View.Next
    With ActivePresentation.SlideShowSettings
    .ShowType = ppShowTypeSpeaker
    .LoopUntilStopped = msoFalse
    .ShowWithNarration = msoTrue
    .ShowWithAnimation = msoTrue
    .RangeType = ppShowNamedSlideShow
    .SlideShowName = "FullShow"
    .AdvanceMode = ppSlideShowUseSlideTimings
    .PointerColor.SchemeColor = ppForeground
    .Run
    End With

    End Sub

    Private Sub ShowShort_Click()
    SlideShowWindows(Index:=1).View.Next
    With ActivePresentation.SlideShowSettings
    .ShowType = ppShowTypeSpeaker
    .LoopUntilStopped = msoFalse
    .ShowWithNarration = msoTrue
    .ShowWithAnimation = msoTrue
    .RangeType = ppShowNamedSlideShow
    .SlideShowName = "ShortShow"
    .AdvanceMode = ppSlideShowUseSlideTimings
    .PointerColor.SchemeColor = ppForeground
    .Run
    End With

    End Sub

    Re: Poblem with custom shows (2000)

    Well, I'm not into code, so I'm not sure what's happening there. But my question is, why not just use an action setting to run the custom show instead of code? Just right-click your button, choose Action Setting, and in the "hyperlink to" box, choose the appropriate custom show. (I also suggest selecting the "show and return" option on that custom show dialog, as that seems to make it easier for most people.)

    Thanks. I set mine up like you said with the buttons on the first screen and each button having an action setting to run a particular custom show. Now when I start my PP and the first screen is selected while in normal view, the second screen is started first rather than the first screen which would allow the user to select which custom show. What is causing this? Note in bothm of my custom shows I do not include the first screen.

    Make sure you don't have a custom show specified in the Slide Show/Setup Show options.

    Super Thanks as that was the problem. I don't remember setting the Show/Setup Show. Again thanks as that solved all of my problems!!
