    installing 'Java' program

I would like to install the "Mars Time clock" at the JPL sight but you have to download a small "Java" programVersion 1.6.1.
Running Me O/S with IE 6.0 SP!.
Can I install the Java program without screwing anything up in Internet Explorer or Me.
Any advise would be appreciated! tnx,

    Re: installing 'Java' program

Can you? Most likely yes, but there are never guarantees. [winkl] Java runs in its own environment and is hosted by the browser, and I have had few problems with it. Were it me...I would go for broke. I may be biased since my company's software runs in the same environment...Java Runtime 1.6.1. Try it and see!

Thanks Mark, based on your reply, I don't think I'll do it. Download the Java program.I've created too many problems downloading stuff I should not have and then cleaning up afterward.
    I appreciate the Honesty.(wink)!
I don't want the program that badly.

The advice I always offer is. If you don't really need it then don't install it.

If you take a modest assumption that one installation in 20 is going to go horribly wrong and cost you hours of recovery time then it may help you to make wise decisions.
