And what about punctuating 5 ANDs?

    Re: AND

    Only 5 AND's. How about a sentence with 21 consecutive AND's. <img src=/S/evilgrin.gif border=0 alt=evilgrin width=15 height=15>

    Re: AND

    Hi Tim

    For 5 ANDs - <span style="background-color: #FFFF00; color: #000000; font-weight: bold"><font color=yellow>I want to put a hyphen between the words Fish and And and And and Chips in my Fish-And-Chips sign.</font color=yellow></span hi>

<span style="background-color: #FFFF00; color: #000000; font-weight: bold"><font color=yellow>That sentence would have looked better if you had used double spacing between and and And, and And and and, and and and And, and And and and.</font color=yellow></span hi>

    Re: AND

Hi Stuart, I like the reply but...
<span style="background-color: #FFFF00; color: #000000; font-weight: bold"><font color=yellow>Wouldn't the sentence "I want to put a hyphen between the words Fish and And and And and Chips in my Fish-And-Chips sign" have been clearer if quotation marks had been placed before Fish, and between Fish and and, and and and And, and And and and, and and and And, and And and and, and and and Chips, as well as after Chips?</font color=yellow></span hi>

    Try your double spacing technique on that sentence. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

    Re: AND

    Yup - that was the one I knew except <span style="background-color: #FFFF00; color: #000000; font-weight: bold"><font color=yellow> mine was a pub called "Rook and Castle"</font color=yellow></span hi>

    Re: AND

I once heard a very long version of this about a firm called <span style="background-color: #FFFF00; color: #000000; font-weight: bold"><font color=yellow>Samarkand and Anderson</font color=yellow></span hi> apparently the stupid sign writer included extra spaces because they didn't recognise the names.
