File prints differently on 2 machines (97Sr2)

We have a timesheet form in Excel that everyone in the department uses. It views and prints exactly the same on all the PCs, except one. I have checked the following and confirmed these to be the same on all the PCs: printer, printer driver, page setup (margins, fit-to-page, alignment - vertical/horizontal), fonts, no personal.xls or book1 templates on any of the PCs. The file is located on a network drive. Each person opens the file, saves it to his hard drive to make the edits, and prints the file. Same process. So what else can cause the file to print differently on one PC. All the PCs are the same also.. same OS, same memory, etc.

My first thought was printer driver (but you said you checked and they all have the exact same version of the printer driver). What if it is printed from the "weird PC" to a different network printer? Is there still a problem.

Another problem could the the system fonts and what is available on the machine.

What is different on the one that is weird? How is is different?

One guess would be that the fonts available in the printers are not exactly the same.

    Hi Melanie,

This could be caused by differences in video display drivers and/or driver settings. Even if the video cards and drivers are the same, check the screen resolution, colour depth and refresh rates. I have seen a change in screen resolution or refresh rates change the effective page layout. Evidently, there is some interaction between display and printer drivers that affects Windows' interpreation of how much text will fit on a line and how many lines will fit on a page.

Weird, but truth can be stranger than fiction!!

    Cheers
