Move Office to New PC (XP)

After years of faithful service, I'm putting my old PC out to pasture. I originally installed Office 97 which I subsequently upgraded to Office XP Professional. Will I be able to activate the software on the new PC or will I need to do some sort of 'de-activation' of the copy on my old PC.

    Thanks

When Office XP first came out, there were some threads on this. I believe you get two Internet activations automatically, but after that you need to call and explain your situation. As far as I know, there is no way to uninstall that reduces your "activation count" up in Redmond.

    Hi Joe,

You shouldn't have any problem activating the software. You will probably be able to do it on line, but even if you have to ring Microsoft they are a lot less draconian now about activating multiple copies than they were with Office 2000.
