    Snapshots (Access 2000)

    I'm not sure if this is in the right forum (Access or Word?) but here goes;
    I want to export a report to Word and retain the formatting the report has. As far as I can see, only the Snapshot option gives this, but this doesn't appear to be importable into Word.

    Help please

    I'm sorry, there is no way to export a report to Word with formatting intact. The export to RTF has been pitiful since the earliest versions of Access, and despite lots of complaints it has never been improved, so apparently Microsoft doesn't consider it important.
    You would have to reconstruct the report from scratch in Word, then populate it from Access, either by using mailmerge, or by using Automation (controlling Word from Access in VBA). The first is easier, but has its limitations, the second is very flexible, but more complicated. Moderator <!profile=WendellB>WendellB<!/profile> has a short tutorial with useful links on Automation on his website (see his profile for a link.)

    You know I guessed this was the case. Ho hum.

    Many thanks
