N,

Just taking a low profile it seems.

You can still download the program if you want at: HiJackthis

Long ago, there was a time when men cursed and beat on the ground with sticks. It was called witchcraft.
Today it is called golf!

Re: What happend to Hijack this?

A number of sites including spywareinfo.com have recently suffered from a massive DDoS attack which has prevented users from accessing their site. I just checked their site and was able to download the program from http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html so the attack may be over.

Just went to http://www.spywareinfo.com and they have this statement up now.

<hr><center>"SpywareInfo now is online again in spite of a massive, ongoing distributed denial of service attack. We have brought online a number of proxy servers at Globalservers.com that are shielding the site. Globalservers has the infrastructure to fight off the attacks. There may be some sporadic outages but we expect to remain online no matter what the attackers throw at us. "</center><hr>

Doc

Having used several of Merijn's products today on a friend's badly-infected PC, I can only say that if the @#$!% are attacking all the antispyware websites, then Merijn must be doing something right, and deserves support!

John,

I've been fortunate (or parinoid <img src=/S/hiding.gif border=0 alt=hiding width=70 height=24>) enough not to have needed the services of any of their products. I do use ZoneAlarm Pro and Norton AV as well as Spybot & AdAware. But I agree, there seems to be some sort of concerted effort being made to hamstring the antispyware sites if not outright shut them down. And they all deserve support for the invaluable work they do and the products they make available (largely for <img src=/S/free.gif border=0 alt=free width=30 height=15>). I make a donation to every free utility I use if I feel it has value to me and the author of the program requests or facilitates donations. I encourage my friends to do the same. One dollar, multiplied by thousands of satisfied users, can go a long way to encouraging these folks to keep doing what they are doing to keep the rest of us safe from ourselves and the creeps out there who take advantage of our inexperience or naivete.

Re: What happend to Hijack this?

Thanks everyone. I love what these programs do as they have saved my butt with a 14 year old in the house! And I agree, they must be doing something right to be attacked this much!
Again, thanks for the answer and the discussion!
