    Delete Dashed Lines (all)

I think I've even asked this question before but can't find the answer (not even by doing a search): <img src=/S/stupidme.gif border=0 alt=stupidme width=30 height=30>

When you go into Print Preview mode and then close it, the page boundaries are shown in Normal view as dashed lines. How does one get rid of these lines?

It's possible I asked this some time ago. Now I'm using XP and nothing seems to work reliably.

    TIA

    Hi Hans,

thks for the quick answer. Of course that works. But I seem to remember there was some other answer too. When I said "reliably" in my orig post, it looked like there were some other ways (maybe involving setting/clearing print areas; going to page break view and dragging) but they weren't "reliable" (ie, didn't work all the time).

You can do something silly, like setting the print area to a single cell. This will get rid of the lines across the sheet, but they'll still form the borders of that single cell.

You can go to View/Page Break Preview and move the page breaks to where ever you'd like.

    Go to

Tools | Options | View (tab)

    uncheck page breaks

    Jim,

Thank you, thank you, thank you. That was the procedure I was looking for. I looked at the View options before (Print Preview) and after and sure enough the state of the checkbox changes. I could never get the right question to find this in Help. IMHO, I think that's a misuse of the options. It's not an option I want checked so it shouldn't change just bcs I do a Print Preview. Now I'll probably have to write a 3 line macro and put it on my toolbar just to turn the thing off.

Macro is done and in my personal.xls.

Hans' close the workbook worked too. The other solutions about dragging the page break were also tried but that's where I couldn't get the procedure to repeat reliably.
