    expanding subform (datasheet view) field

I have a subform which is displayed in datasheet view and I want to have one of the fields expand on mouse over or something like that (perhaps on click) so that the entire contents can be read easily. Right now user have to move the cursor over to see the all the contents. Any ideas? I don't think the can grow property is the answer.
    Thanks for the help.

You could put the following code in the on click event of the field to activate a zoom box when the user clicks on that field.

    SendKeys "+{f2}"

Thanks. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15> I didn't think of using the zoom window. I'm checking whether that will work for my users, but I don't see why not, although I probably will not put it in the on click event since it might be annoying if you don't want it popping up but need to use the field.

And use the Double-click event rather than the click event. That's what I generally do.

Re: expanding subform (datasheet view) field

I had decided to use the double-click event, because otherwise every time a user decides to make a change to a record they've entered the zoom pops up, so I think you're right - that's better. For other readers, the correct syntax is "DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdZoomBox."

Also, check into setting up an alternate keystroke for it (in the AutoKeys macro).

In addition to using the SendKeys method, you could also use the RunCommand method (DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdZoomBox).

Edited to fix a syntax typo.
