    IIS - SBS 2000

    Hi,

Can anyone tell me where there is a beginners guide to setting up IIS - we want to set up an intranet site, but whenever I publish it I get the missing front page extensions message. I really know nothing about IIS but would like to learn

I can't recommnd any books BUT, it sounds like you are using Frontpage and its extensions and the IIS server doesn't have FP Extensions installed. FP Extensions do not come standard with IIS.

    Karen,
You may want to look at the SBS 2000 Resource Kit. Teh MS site says you can buy it at B&N, Amazon, or Quantumbooks. Since it is online at B&N you can probably see a copy at a local B&N to check its suitability for you.

Thank you both for your replies. Wolfman you are right about not having FP extensions installed - I need to know how to do this.

Joe I will check out the Resource Kit.

    Thanks

Karen, The FP server extensions are part of Office. You can go to the Office downloads site and the search for 'server extensions'. Select the version appropriate to the FP version you are using. You'll also get more Resource Kit information to digest.

    Re: IIS - SBS 2000

Hi - thanks for your response - I went to the site but could not find server extentions for FP 2002 - there is a security patch for 02; and server extensions for 2000 but not server extensions for 2002 - should I try downloading the 2000 extensions and then applying the 02 security patch?

    Re: IIS - SBS 2000

As far as I can see - from the FP 2002 install disks - there are no specific 2002 server extensions. as you are on SBS 2000, it should be the FP 2000 extensions you want. The 2002 security patch probably only is necessary if you are working with FP 2002. HTH

    Karen,
I think the server extensions are for the version of Office you have. You should be able to install them from the Office setuo.
