    mshl.dll

Hi all, I keep gettting the following error message when Windows starts up:

Explorer has caused an error in MSHL.dll. Explorer will now close. If you continue to experience problems, try restarting your computer.

After i close this message box, I am unable to gain access to any programs or menus and only the wallpaper is visible (ie. no icons or taskbar, etc) I've tryed restarting several times, but no luck. I can't find anything on the Microsoft website regarding this problem or this .dll. Any help please would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you, Van

I don't have MSHL.DLL on my WinME machine either. Have you tried a spyware scan with something like AdAware or Spybot as per <!post=this Star Post thread?,296439>this Star Post thread?<!/post>

no....the error message is definitely mshl.dll.....although i agree with you, it's likely refering to mshtml.dll.

If that's the case, then try disabling as many startup items as you can with MSCONFIG. I strongly suspect that something that is scheduled to start at boot up is causing this problem.
