    Duplicating ListNum (Office 2003)

    I want to add an autonumber field to 2 paragraphs, such as this:

    Question {ListNum 1}

    Answer to Question {ListNum 1}

    In other words, I want the field to REPEAT, so that the same number shows in each paragraph. Then, when I go to Question 2, I want the field to show the number 2, and so on.

    Is there a way to do this?

    Thanks.

    Try...

    <font face="Georgia">
    Question { Seq QNum }
    Answer to question { Seq QNum c }
    </font face=georgia>

    The c switch on a Seq field tells it to reuse the most recent sequence number.

    Or, if you want to keep using ListNum fields, insert a cross reference in the "answer":
    "Insert > Reference > Cross reference > Numbered item"

    Unfortunately you'll have to update the cross references manually (like the seq fields)...
    I can't think of a solution which avoids that.

    What about using a listnum field for the question and then a styleref field for the answer.

    The styleref field will look like {styleref "mystyle" n}

    Nice! That would be less work than my solution.
