    Win 2K reboots on LAN

    Help
At present I have a problem with Windows 2000
    This is the scenario:
All Laptop PC's (Compaq) have recently taken to spontaneously rebooting after running their login script. Some DC's have been upgraded to SP4 and the problem seem to be since then. Many hours of investigation have been put into what's causing this without much luck.
The laptops run the login script, then all users are prompted with a window indicating that the system will shut down in 60 seconds, which is shown with a countdown timer.
If local admin rights are removed then all is OK

    Anyone got any ideas , <img src=/S/brickwall.gif border=0 alt=brickwall width=25 height=15>

    This sounds suspiciously like Blaster!

    Check

and if it looks familiar, check out the
Symantec Security Response - W32.Blaster.Worm Removal Tool.

Thanks Leif but I'm pretty sure it's not Viral.
We have up to date scanning s/w and signatures on all machines, this is only affecting laptops, desktops are OK.

Does anything in this post at Experts Exchange look familiar?

    Otherwise:
    Anything in the event log?
Can you disable all or selective parts of the logon script and start OK?

I have to agree with Leif, it appears that the laptops have been infected.
I would do a update to the AV software on each laptop and then scan them.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.
