'There is insufficient memory or disk space' (5.1/SP1)

A week ago I reformatted my hard drive, installed Windows XP, and reinstalled all my applications.

Today I was copying/pasting from a Web site into a Word document. (I prefer to group like information into one file rather than to have individual printouts that either take up file drawer space or get lost.) When pasting a fourth page into Word, I received a Word "There is insufficient memory or disk space." My computer has 327,196 KB physical memory available to Windows (at this moment) and 10 GB of free disk space from a 20 GB hard drive.

I cleaned out all the temporary internet files, but that didn't make any difference.

Rebooting resolved the memory problem, but I don't know for how long because I don't know what caused it. Any thoughts or experiences as to what might be causing this? Thanks!
