can't send messages to AOL addresses (2000)

Suddenly I can't send messages to AOL addresses.

I can send mail to any other type of address...

I can receive mail from AOL addresses.

I use comcast.net. I contacted Comcast -- but they "only support Outlook Express" not Outlook -- annoying!!

Thanks in advance for any help!

What kind of message are you getting that states that you can not send to AOL?

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Re: can't send messages to AOL addresses (2000)

Hi Dave -- I'm not at my home computer so I'm not sure exactly what it says --

I get an email back showing status "undeliverable" -- with something like -- "other address status" (not exact) as the reason.

If I go to the Comcast.net web site and access my mail from there -- I am able to successfully send the message so I know it's not at their end.

    Thanks! Peggy

Do you mean plain text or html formatting?

I tried to re-send one that had come back -- it was in html format -- and it came back as undeliverable.

    The message is this:

    Permanent Failure: Other address status

I'm going to try converting the message to plain text format and see if that changes anything.

Re: can't send messages to AOL addresses (2000)

I have discovered that if I send the message as "plain text" it goes through. And it seems to be true for all AOL addresses.

I just think it loses so much impact in plain text format --

So if they write to me in formatted text, my reply automatically gets formatted the same way, and then the message comes back undeliverable.

    I hope that make sense.

You shouldn't take this personally, since I don't know anything about your messages, but --

"I just think it loses so much impact in plain text format"

-- I think you might be kidding yourself here. Most people don't even bother to write out whole words any more, let alone punctuate sentences. The idea that a little bit of formatting is going to make a significant different in an e-mail message probably went by the wayside a couple years ago.

Of course, this is from someone "over 40" who reads Consumer Reports. <img src=/S/laugh.gif border=0 alt=laugh width=15 height=15>
