    Replies in Netscape (Office 2003)

I use Outlook for my e-mail. A friend uses Netscape. When she "replies" to my e-mail, her message is blank; only my original message shows. She can "send" messages without problems. I can "reply" to her without problems. What is wrong with her Netscape? Below is what she sent me for info.

I use Netscape. When I view your e-mails I am instructed as follows:

This message contains multimedia content (MIME type=type/unspecified) that cannot be displayed in your browser. If you have an external player or plugin that supports this type, you can click here to launch your player.
If you do not have a compatible external player, click the link below.

    Multimedia Message: Display parts separately

I click separately and then I apparently lose my connection to reply.
So, I'll just send separate messages and not reply directly.

Anyone have any ideas for me to give her?

Are you using Rich Text Format for your Outlook email? AFAIK Netscape works successfully with Plain Text or with HTML format.

I sent her two msgs and asked her to "reply" to each one. The one I sent in HTML did not show her typed reply. It came back with only my message showing. The msg I sent in Plain Test came back with her "reply" showing. Do I have to de-tune my e-mail to get her replies or can she do something to her Netscape? Thanx., Tom

You may be inadvertently embedding IE-specific content in your messages. For example, if your default stationery included a Windows Media sound file (seems unlikely). If you use Word as your editor, you might be inserting "smart tags" into your message. Maybe these are causing the problem?

There is a choice in Netscape under Preferences|Mail and News to choose between HTML and Plain Text format. These should not be affecting your girl firend, but you could ask her to try altering them. HTH
