    Word Icon Changed? (XP)

    Hello,

The screenshot shows how a Microsoft Word icon has changed.
What does this mean & why did it happen?

    From a very bewildered Bob!

    Why? No idea.

    Try re-registering Word:
    - Close all instances of Word, Windows Explorer, My Computer etc.
    - Select Start | Run...
    - Type "C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOffice10Winword.exe" /r
    - Click OK or press Enter.

You can also try to set the icon directly:
    - Start Windows Explorer or My Computer.
    - Select Tools | Folder Options...
    - Activate the File Types tab.
    - Locate and select DOC / Microsoft Word Document.
    - Click Advanced... (Windows XP) or Edit... (older Windows versions)
    - Click Change Icon...
    - The icon is probably taken from the wrong file. For my Word 2002, the correct icon is located in
    C:WINDOWSInstaller{90110409-6000-11D3-8CFE-0050048383C9}wordicon.exe
    - Enter this path in the box, then press Enter.
    - Select the "standard" Word document icon, then click OK.

If you have TweakUI installed then try using its Rebuild Icons function. I have found this effective in the past whan various icon's have been corrupted.
