    Web Tracking Software

I have been asked to do some research on Web Tracking Software for my company. Any recommendations on a good basic product out there for internet monitoring? They're not looking for a package that gets down to every key stroke being monitored, but websites viewed, length of time, etc. that is able to do reports, etc.

We'd prefer a flat licensed product vs a per user license.

    Thanks....

    Lisa,
Check out PC Police for a decent tracking program. You can get 11- 15 licenses per pop and it seems to do a lot of what you might be looking for, although I didn't go too far into the details of it.

    Get it at PCPOLICE

    Re: Web Tracking Software

I checked out the link (thank you!!) and it looked pretty good. I contacted them only to find out that the license fee for "businesses" is $19.99 per license (when orderng over 200 licenses!!) vs $3.99 per license for home users. So I am a little leery. Am going to download a trial copy of it and check it though regardless.

    Lisa,

How many computerslicenses are you talking about?
    I didn't see any mention of personal or business uses on their webpage. <img src=/S/disappointed.gif border=0 alt=disappointed width=15 height=15> <img src=/S/hmmn.gif border=0 alt=hmmn width=15 height=15>

    Re: Web Tracking Software

I am in need of about 200 licenses. I mentioned the lack of home/business license costs differences on their website to the salesperson as well. His response was that business users need more support and they need to be sure that the product works for them, so it is more expensive. Their trial version allows you to log in 5 times and then deactivates. Can't hurt for me to look at the product, but I think I need to keep looking.....

I guess that's one way of looking at that cost?

Maybe you already have what you need. We run SurfControl as a filtering system, but it wiil also track what sites are visited as I understand.

I also have a PC auditing package, Audit Wizard which allows you to track the history of your PCs, including what sites have been visited. HTH

    Re: Web Tracking Software

Lisa, we use a product called WebMarshal, I think the address is www.marshalsoftware.com. This software allows you to put people into groups, and then allocate access say to one site only. Equally this can be done at user level. The advantage of groups is that say a Marketing dept can get access to a site useful to them, but nothing else. Good reporting facilities and analysis, gives ranking report by user un descending order of usage. Advises users if they attempt toaccess a blocked site that their attempt has been logged, which it has. Also emails the administrator when this happens to allow us to analyse what is going on. You can also add your own list of blocked names, we had great fun when checking out what happens if you type "big fat b*m" and the likes, took us a while to fine tune the list but it works admirably. We currently have about 130 plus PCs connected nationally. HTH
