I have a worksheet with the month and year (as text) in column A and "Yes" and "No" text in column F. I want to have excel count the number of "Yes" values for a given month-year and return that value in a cell. I can effectively do this manually by autofiltering the data to the month-year I want and then filtering the "Yes" cells in column F and then counting them, but I would like to do this in a formula automatically in a cell. Can anyone show me how to do this.

Welcome to Woody's Lounge!
Say that the month-year you want to count the Yes-es for is in cell H1. The following formula will return the count:<pre>=SUM((A1:A100=H1)*(F1:F100="yes"))</pre>
This is an array formula, i.e. it must be confirmed with Ctrl+Shift+Enter instead of the customary Enter.
