I don't know how from native W9n, but see this <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.wopr.com/cgi-bin/w3t/showflat.pl?Cat=&Board=off&Number=31740&page=0&vie w=expanded&sb=5>thread</A> for several add-ins.

Assuming you are referring to Windows Explorer, you will notice that the details pane (on the right) has column headings like Name, Size, Type, Modified, Attributes. Any of those columns can be sorted by clicking on the heading. Repeated clicks toggles Ascending, Descending etc. Too sort by size click the size Heading until the larges files are at the top (or vice versa).

Andrew, that won't change the sort order of the folders, nor provide a folder size. Files-yes, folders-no.

OOOps , stupid me, I misread the post - sorry
Not "stupid." Lord knows I've done it tons of times. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

Sorry if this is off topic, but in the past I've had the Attributes column visible on the Windows Explorer. I've recently gone searching for the option to turn that on and can't find it. I'm sure it's something small that I'm overlooking.
Can anyone point me in the right direction (Win98 SE)?
Many thanks... <img src=/S/bow.gif border=0 alt=bow width=15 height=15>

Right_mouse over one of the fields (e.g. name) and you should get a 'Field chooser'.
(W2K anyway)
Within Explorer, right click a blank area od the gray bar above the listing (Name, Size and etc). You will have a list of items to check off.
Note: I am running Windows 2000 and can NOT remember where for sure this option is in earlier OS's.

Hi Dave (and Leif),
Thanks for your suggestion(s). I wish it were that simple...I've right-clicked EVERYWHERE with no luck (tried that long before posting). I've searched the Folder Options, View Options - I've even scoured TweakUI with no luck. <img src=/S/shrug.gif border=0 alt=shrug width=39 height=15>
Again, I'm dealing with Win98 SE.
It's not a big thing, but I know I've had it enabled in the past. Bummer! <img src=/S/yikes.gif border=0 alt=yikes width=15 height=15>
<img src=/S/puke.gif border=0 alt=puke width=60 height=15>(I've been dying to use that one!)

Looks like a job for <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.wopr.com/cgi-bin/w3t/showflat.pl?Cat=&Board=free&Number=8749&page=&view =&sb=&vc=1>Powerdesk</A> then.
Hi Leif,
Thanks again for your response. Although I'm baffled by this one, I'm pretty sure I did it in Win98 without any external utilities like Powerdesk. Oh well... <img src=/S/ouch.gif border=0 alt=ouch width=15 height=15>
Thanks again! <img src=/S/bow.gif border=0 alt=bow width=15 height=15>

Within Windows Explorer go Menu, Tools, Folder Options and View tab. Scroll down to "Show file attributes in Detail View" and enter a check mark. this should do it.

The option for this is missing from the list! <img src=/S/bingo.gif border=0 alt=bingo width=15 height=22>
At least that explains why I couldn't find it. I knew the option was somewhere in that ballpark.
I must be loosing my mind. <img src=/S/nuts.gif border=0 alt=nuts width=15 height=15> I suppose I'm missing some update from Microsoft (IE Version 5.00.334.2101IC)...
Thanks for the quick response! <img src=/S/salute.gif border=0 alt=salute width=15 height=20>

There's a documented registry hack in the KB:
<A target="_blank" HREF=http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q222/1/57.ASP>Attributes Column Is Not Displayed in Details View of Windows Explorer</A>
I haven't tried it out myself.
