    Dropdown list (Excel 2002 & 2003)

In the attached excel document the spreadsheet allows you to do sorts in assend/desend. It also allows you to view records by the record description. I am trying to figure out how this was done as I have a idea on how to use these sorts in an application I wish to write.

Use has been made of the AutoFilter feature. Very simple to replicate.

If You select the Header cells of your data (in this case A3:B3) and then goto Data, and select AutoFilter, the dropdown selectors will be inserted for you.

The dropdown lists in A3 and B3 are there because AutoFilter has been applied to the table A3:B45. You turn it on/off by selecting A3:B45 and then selecting Date | Filter | AutoFilter.

Sorting is a standard option in Excel, via the buttons on the Standard toolbar or via Data | Sort...

Note: I recommend inserting an empty row above row 3. This will make applying a filter and sorting easier, you won't have to select the entire table first, selecting a single cell within the table will be sufficient.
