OutlookXP Default Email Sender (OutlookXP SP3)

I would like to have Outlook ASK ME, every single time I send a new email, what Account I want to use!!!
I have seven or eight accounts set up, and in Outlook 2000 I could have just a 'SendAs' button and then select the one I wanted to use.
I don't want to change reply-to functionality. I just want to not have a 'default' sender and be prompt instead on NEW emails I send.
I see no way to shut off having a default account.
Anyone have any ideas? Setting? RegEdit? Can't be done now?
These are not all the same ISP, but all one happy Internet Only Outlook instance.

    Thanks!

With a little bit of VBA code you can intercept the Send command, but I'm not sure you can specify the account to use in code. I don't see it in a quick look at the Outlook 2002 object model. You could do something somewhat complicated and scrape the account information out of the Accounts drop-down control into a UserForm. Hmmm... Maybe something like:

    ActiveInspector.CommandBars("Standard").Controls(" Accounts").Controls(frmPickAccount.lbxAccounts.Lis tIndex + 2).Execute

How did you have this set up in Outlook 2000?

Re: OutlookXP Default Email Sender (OutlookXP SP3)

I don't do VBA, and only wish Outlook would ask me which email to use to send the new message.
Sounds like this just isn't the way its built? Perhaps it could be done with VBA, but I was hoping for something simpler.

In OL2000, I think I just replaced the Send button with the SendAs button on the toolbar.
(That was a while ago, and I don't have OL2000 running anywhere right now.)
This is at home, too, btw.
At work we have OL2000, but run off Exchange server and it isn't even relevant.

    Thanks!

I know you stated that you wanted Outlook to <span style="background-color: #FFFF00; color: #000000; font-weight: bold">ask you</span hi>, and I do not believe such an auto-prompt is available. In <font color=blue>Outlook 2003</font color=blue> there is a menu item ( <font color=blue>Accounts</font color=blue> ) to the right of the <font color=blue>Send</font color=blue> buttton when a new message is to be composed. Clicking on the <font color=blue>Accounts</font color=blue> button provides a drop down menu where you can select the desired account to be used. Once you select an account, that account name is displayed just below the Send button. I do not know if this is a new feature in Outlook 2003 or a carry-over from previous versions. Is the Account button available in Outlook XP and is this what you seek?

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers,

    Bob

The option is available in XP but I think I had to add the Accounts button by customizing.....

Re: OutlookXP Default Email Sender (OutlookXP SP3)

    Good afternoon Leif.

I do not recall if the <font color=blue>Accounts</font color=blue> button was immediately available when I installed Outlook 2003 or if it was added when I set-up my 3 e-mail accounts. I scoured the various menus and could not find anything that allows me to add or delete that feature. I guess that I could always delete 2 of my 3 accounts and see what happens. There again, I could always remove a manhole cover from the roadway, don a blindfold and traverse the area to see if I can avoid an accident!!! <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

Me thinks I will leave the manhole cover in place and leave the the set-ups in O2003 as they be. <img src=/S/evilgrin.gif border=0 alt=evilgrin width=15 height=15>

<font color=blue> Edited to add info... could not leave well enough alone. My comments above are related to my desktop's settings. I looked at my laptop where I also have Outlook 2003 installed... but with only one account. In that environment, the Accounts button is not displayed. I then added a 2nd account and lo and behold the Accounts button is added. Here endth the lesson. And I even stayed away from manhole covers!!! </font color=blue>

Now that you have confirmed that <font color=blue>Accounts</font color=blue> does exits in Outlook XP, hopefully that will address RabidWolf's needs.

    Cheers,

    Bob

    Thanks, Bob
Yes, that button is available in OutlookXp as well (you have to add it to the toolbar). I have it there, but never remember to use it. I liked the SendAs button that Oulook2k had better than this arrangement.
Pity there isn't some tweak for it.
    Thanks again.
