    Removed WildTangent (Win XP SP1)

Today I removed every thing that had to do with WildTangent. Pest Patrol, Adware Remover Gold, Win Patrol Plus, all declared it to be Spyware.

Now one page can't be opened, IncrediMail.com. Every other Web page loads with no problem. I understand that WildTangent affects some games downloaded from their Web site. I don't play or use any of their games.

Can some one figure out what's wrong? Please.

The messages are: The page cannot be displayed (at the top)
Cannot find server or DNS Error Internet Explorer (at the very botton of the page) I even tried to download the latest version from 3rd party sites, but I can't get it from them either.

I entered IncrediMail.com into the cooke override list. That didn't work.. I turned off Zone Alarm Pro, no help there.

Does this link to the IP address work? http://206.82.140.162/ If so, the problem is bad DNS information between you and the site.

One way to get this message is to have an old IP address for the site in your hosts file. In Windows XP, this is under

    C:WINDOWSSYSTEM32DRIVERSETC

You can open it with Notepad; it's plain text.

If there's nothing in there, perhaps your ISP has cached out-of-date information? We had this problem at the Lounge when we changed servers (partly our own fault, having told servers they could retain the information for up to a week...). Not much you can do about that except complain.

    Hope this helps.

One more thing Jscher, I need the current download page and an old cached page would not have it.

Sorry, I meant caching of the IP address of the Incredimail site (DNS information), not caching of the actual site content. If you can solve the translation of domain name to IP address, I suspect that you will get everything you're looking for.

I must admit that I am totally ignorant about doing what you are suggesting. Is it possible that you can lead me step-by-step or point me to the instructions? Sorry to be such a pain but if a person is ignorant then I think they should admit it and not try to bluff there way through.,

I must be getting senile. I forgot to tell you that I used AOL 9.0 Optimized and reached IncrediMail. I downloaded and installed the updated version I was looking for. This does not solve the problem, but at least I have what I wanted. I E still has to be fixed to visit IM pages.
