Show Standard and Formatting toolbars on two rows (Word 2002 (XP))

Sure glad "Search" is back in the forums.

Is there a way to programmatically turn "Show Standard and Formatting toolbars on two rows" on or off?

Thanks.

Hi Al,

This is not exposed in the Office Object Model as a separate property, but you can do the following to display them on two rows (it will also put the menu bar at the top)

CommandBars("Menu Bar").RowIndex = 1
CommandBars("Standard").RowIndex = 2
CommandBars("Formatting").RowIndex = 3

and this to display them in the same row (below the menu bar):

CommandBars("Menu Bar").RowIndex = 1
CommandBars("Standard").RowIndex = 2
CommandBars("Formatting").RowIndex = 2

Would this have to be done each time Word was opened? Or does it "stick"?

The setting "sticks" - you only have to run the code once.

Sorry, but have another one. (In case you're wondering, we are going to be setting up 150 computers to use WordXP, and we would like to handle a lot of these mundane things via a setup procedure.)

The option Always Show Full Menus we need to have checked. Can it be done programmatically? I couldn't find anything via the Help files.

Thanks.

This one is represented in the Office object model. Use
CommandBars.AdaptiveMenus = False
to turn "Always Show Full Menus" ON and use
CommandBars.AdaptiveMenus = True
to turn it OFF.

Well, why didn't I think of that??? ;/

AdaptiveMenus = Always show full menus.

At least they both started with "A."

Again, thanks.
