    Balloon Comments (Word 2002)

    Does anyone know if there is a way to turn off Balloons in Word 2002 and still get Comments? If you want Insertions and Deletions to appear as underscores and strike-throughs, then Balloons can be turned off, but is there a way to still get the Comments to print at the end of the file like in Word 97/2000.

    Thanks.

    Re: Balloon Comments (Word 2002)

    They removed it from the Print tab of the Options dialog!

    Well, there is another way to get at it, but it doesn't seem to work...
    <pre>Sub PrintMeWithComments()
    ' Tested in Word 2002 with balloons off
    With Options
    .PrintComments = True 'Why doesn't this work?
    Dialogs(wdDialogFilePrint).Show
    .PrintComments = False
    .PrintHiddenText = False
    End With
    End Sub</pre>

    I wonder whether this is a documented change? Hmmm... you could try a workaround like this, printing the comments after you print the document:
    <pre>Sub PrintCommentsAfterDoc()
    ' Tested in Word 2002 with balloons off
    With Dialogs(wdDialogFilePrint)
    ' Setup to print doc with comment brackets showing
    SendKeys "%wl{Up}{Enter}&#37c"
    If .Show = -1 Then
    ' User printed, now print comments
    ActiveDocument.PrintOut Item:=wdPrintComments
    End If
    End With
    End Sub</pre>

    If you find a real answer, though, that certainly would be better!

    Jeff:

    Thanks a lot. I'll try that.
