TRK Returns (XP)

Hello,

We're having a problem with a document that was sent to us with Track Changes active in the document. We need to disable this feature and have done so by double-clicking the TRK in the Status bar and also tried turning it off through the Reviewing toolbar. It appears to turn off but once we save, exit and then re-open the document, the TRK is active once again. The only solution I can come up with is copying the entire document (minus the last paragraph mark) into a new, blank document, however this is not always an option.

Does anyone know why Track Changes refuses to disable in some documents? I've seen this approximately 5 times before in unrelated documents.

Take care,
Azure

This is a feature. You need to remove the custom document properties. See <post#=318123>post 318123</post#>
Cheers,

If you were always receiving it by e-mail, I could imagine that this was related to some interaction between Outlook and Word and the imaginary, happy review cycle featured in Office demos. However, if you turn it off, save, close, and re-open from disk, it really still should be turned off. If this is a genuine bug, there might be an article for it in the Microsoft Knowledgebase. (I'd search if it wasn't time for lunch. )

Thanks Guys!

Deleting the custom file properties did the trick. When did Woody say that Search feature would be available again?

Thanks a million!

Hi Azure,

The Search feature has been back since the end of December last year. Enjoy!
