    checkboxes ('97, SR-2)

What is the "best" to insert checkboxes into a word document?
(I want to have "active" checkboxes that can be checked and unchecked.)

It all depends upon what you want. If you are making a protected online form, you can use the Forms toolbar to insert a checkbox formfield. When you protect the document for forms, you can check & uncheck the box using either the spacebar or the mouse. The "checkboxes" are shown as an "X".

Similarly, you can use the Control Toolbar (right click a blank spot on a toolbar & show it). The checkboxes work similarly (mouse or spacebar), but you don't have to protect the document for forms & it shows up as a checkmark. However, navigation is easier if you do protect the document for forms...otherwise you'll have to navigate using the mouse.
    Cheers,
