    AutoText AutoComplete (Word 2003)

I have Word 2003 on a desktop and on a laptop. AutoText AutoComplete works fine on the desktop, but on the laptop the AutoComplete never pops up when I enter the first four characters of an entry. The Show Autocomplete Suggestions box IS checked in the AutoCorrect dialog box. Any suggestions?

    Re: AutoText AutoComplete (Word 2003)

My first question would be, have you tried this on entries whose first 4 letter names are unique? You won't see any autocomplete suggestions after 4 letters if you have entries named, e.g. work 1, work 2, etc., because they aren't unique. Secondly, make sure that the autotext entries actually exist in normal.dot by typing the entry & pressing F3. Lastly, this is a guess, but a technique that sometimes works when an option doesn't appear to have any effect.

    1. Uncheck the option & close Word.
    2. Restart Word & check the option.

If that doesn't work, you might try the steps listed in <post#=197827>post 197827</post#>.
    Cheers,

    Thanks for your reply.

I restarted my system and it suddenly started working. Very strange indeed, but the problem appears to be solved.
