High Water Mark (Outlook 2000 SR-1)

    High all. Two problems annoying me at present: <img src=/S/confused.gif border=0 alt=confused width=15 height=20>
    Problem 1:
I have had two emails over the last month stating [Subject] ATTENTION: Your mailbox is over the high water mark, 75% based on amount stored!! [Message body] Your mailbox is over the high water mark.
Please delete some messages from your mailbox!

This message has not been sent by my service provider, I do not use web-based mail account in any case. Also found no clues from outlook help, no results on MS.com or symantec website. I have also tried removing and re-adding my mail account from outlook.

    Problem 2:
I am unable to send any emails containing an attachment larger than a nats whatsit (outlook freezes with progress bar 1/2 way across). Antivirus is not set to scan outgoing messages.

Are these linked? Any clues on how to resolve problem 1?

Any clues gratefully received, thanks in advance...

As for the mailbox problem, what is this email trying to sell you that is listed in the small print?

What AV software are you ruining whether it is checking or not?

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

    Thanks for reply!
Running Norton AV 9.05.15 (Norton 2003, as part of system works).
Mailbox email is offering nothing for sale - text as included in original posting is the entirety of the message, no attachments

Regarding #1, I wonder if one of the new viruses is sending that, emulating an otherwise common and legitimate message?? Anyway, if you have all your POP3 accounts set to delete mail from the server, either immediately or after a few days, this probably is a temporary problem. If your ISP does provide a webmail interface and screens mail for spam, it's possible that you have a large quarantine folder for review. But those usually flush out after a while, too, so perhaps it's nothing.

Regarding #2, what about a very large message, rather than an attachment? If the problem is based on message size overall rather than the presence or absence of attachments, check with your ISP. Perhaps their server is flaky. If it is specific to attachments, hmmm, I'm not sure.
