    File Location (vb6)

I save all my documents and images to a local server residing on the L: drive.
This is great for me but when some-one from our head office wants acces to these files I have to E:Mail them.

The head office has the same setup on their server ie L: drive and the same default folders.

I was wondering if it was possible to send docs and images direct to their server programatically via code ?

Would I use their IP address ? example <pre> "175.2.2.542L:MMpdfImage"</pre>

or by domain followed by path ?

Does anyone have any idea's on this ?

Get your administrator to set up a drive mapping to their server, let's say drive M. Then you can save or send files to the M drive in the same way you save to your L drive.

At least that's what we do here.

    Thanks Kev

    I tried mapping without success.
I know their server name ?????Data but my connection cannot find the server.

Would it be protected in some way, I cannot speak to IT until Monday.

Can you "see" their server from your location in Windows Explorer, i.e. do you have a WAN or VPN connection?

    Hans
    No I can't see it.

We are also on different Domains.

We have a series of routers for connection, I know they can get into my server but I'd have to check with them as to giving me access
    to their's.

In that case you'll have to wait until Monday. IT at the head office will have to set up something for you. Nothing you can do about it now.

    So relax and have a <img src=/S/cheers.gif border=0 alt=cheers width=30 height=16>

Todays the only time I could log on after booting the server and disconnecting routers.

    Have a good weekend.

Tsk tsk, all this boozing in the lounge. What would Woody say?

You should point out to your IT department that the purpose of networks is to SHARE information. In my department we have a common folder/share on each server to allow people to share data. You perhaps, depending on the physical size of the administrator, could point out that the IT department is merely the custodian of the data on the network and not the owner. A point I continually make to the people who work for me.

I hope you resolve the issue.

    He's having to deal with a Head Office/Local Office access issue. I hope I'm wrong, but I wouldn't rate his chances highly. <img src=/S/shrug.gif border=0 alt=shrug width=39 height=15>
