    Crystal Ball (2000)

Would this be the appropriate spot for crystal ball questions?

Could someone explain in simple english the difference between discreet and continous simulations? and If so what is a good way to know when to use each simulation?

If you don't get an answer here, you might join the Crystal Ball User Group and ask there.

Although not Crystal Ball, this may be a useful reference since the author evidently cannot spell either <img src=/S/wink.gif border=0 alt=wink width=15 height=15>: "Introduction to Discrete-Contnuous Simulation"

A discrete simulation involves a bunch of single events; for example, oil pipeline fractures. The math behind discrete simulations usually involves probability and statistical functions. Time is only involved as the time between events. The computer game, Hearts, is a discrete simulation.

A continuous simulation is one that happens in real time; for example, oil pipeline flow. The math behind continuous simulations usually involves differential equations. The computer game, Flight Simulator, is a continuous simulation. HTH --Sam
