    Hello Roland,

    Your question is confusing to me. Could you try again to explain what you want? If you have trouble stating it in English, you can send a PM to me with your question in Dutch; I will do my best to translate it.

    Follow-up:

    Roland wants to design a protected form, and he wants a cross-reference to one of the form fields to appear in the page footer (not footnote) on the last page of the document only. He would also like the cross-reference to be updated automatically when the form field is updated by the user.

    I didn't see you give him the answer...

    Each form field has an associated bookmark. Right click the form field and look at its properties to see or change the bookmark name. You can also set the form field property "Calculate on Exit" to ensure that changes to the field cause the cross reference in the footer gets updated.

    To include a reference to this bookmark in the footer on the last page of the document include the following in the footer...

    { IF { PAGE }={ NUMPAGES } "{ REF bmkName } " "" }

    Use Control-F9 to insert the field { } symbols.
    This will include a cross reference to the bookmark called bmkName on the last page of the document only.

    I have attached a demo document with some form fields and a reference to one of them (LastName) in the footer, as suggested by Stuart. The Last Name field has an On Exit macro associated with it to update the reference.

    Stuart,

    In my Word 2002 SP-2, Calculate on Exit doesn't work for a reference in the page footer. An On Exit macro does work - see my reply to Roland.

    I just noticed this myself whilst creating an example document, I'm sure it used to work, but maybe that is just failing brain cells.

    Hi Stuart:
    I thought so too, but I get the same result in Word 2000. The calculate on exit only works when the cross reference is in the body of the document.
