Couple of registry tips

I found these when I was doing a (futile) search for a way to disable the numlock:

----------------------------------------
Stop "shortcut to" on shortcuts:
----------------------------------------
Start Registry Editor.
Locate the following registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVe rsionExplorer

Modify the data value of the Link value to be 00 00 00 00.

------------------------------------------------
To enable the Scheduled Tasks icon,
------------------------------------------------
create an EnableTrayIcon DWORD value and make it equal to 1
in the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftPlus!System Agent

The Scheduled Tasks icon is displayed on the taskbar when you restart your computer.

On your first one (disable numlock) is it not possible for you to do that via the setup during boot-up - or do you want the facility to be available as you work?

ME doesn't just ignore anything you put in config.sys and autoexec.bat; it reinstates a 'clean' copy.

Eileen,

Have you tried the Technet Forums? I find it hard to believe that any 'power' type user of a computer would tolerate thier numlock defaulting to 'On..' i'm sure somone over there could provide the answer...

Eileen,
Betty is running Me and she has this to say about the Numlock key . She has not found any way of turning it of other than hitting the key. We have found that it is NOT turned on when using a laptop, which uses a different type of keyboard.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Tell Betty to get sMaRTcaPs - it works like a charm!

Re: Couple of registry tips

No, it's here and in Hardware. You can put it in Software finds as well if you like.
