    Sort Question (Excell 2002)

I have a column that has the time phone calls are made. The data is in AM or PM format (8:45AM and 7:45PM). In this format I cannot sort the calls in their proper time order. Is their a way to sort AM/PM? Or, is there an easy way to convert these cells to military time (08:45 and 19:45)?

    Please help!!!

PS. This is a great place to get support for someone is an infrequent and novice user!!!

    Re: Sort Question (Excell 2002)

If there is no space between the number and the AM or PM designation ("8:45PM" vs. "8:45 PM"), Excel isn't treating the entry as time (Excel is very dumb about some format issues), it's treating it as text. Make a copy of the data, Find-&-Replace "AM" with " AM" and "PM with " PM" (note the space in front of the replacement text); Excel will convert them to time in its decimal time system, and you should then be able to sort correctly. If not, post back.
