Location of signatures (OE 6)

Is there a way in OE 6 to have the signature placed at the bottom, instead of the top, in a reply posting?

Hi, Howard ~

M$ is very hostile to the bottom posters as opposed to top-posters and thus forces your reply and signature to the top.

Unless you want to copy/cut & paste every single time, your option is to switch to a Mozilla or Pegasus, or if you wish to stay with OE, you can use a third-party program, OE-QuoteFix, a free download that fixes this. If you keep this program running, it will automatically reformat messages whenever you press the 'Reply' button. The signature block will be moved to the proper place at the bottom of the message, line-wrapping problems in quoted portions are fixed, and the empty space to type your response is moved to its proper spot below the quotes instead of above them. OE-QuoteFix also makes some improvements when reading messages, coloring in replies based on how many greater-than signs precede each line, making it easy to see which lines are part of which level of quoting. It's a useful program if you wish to stay with OE.

Your first sentence should have been.

"M$ is very hostile."

I disagree that the "proper place" for a signature is at the bottom of a message.
The "proper place" is wherever I want it to be, which means cut & paste.

Somebody in another forum asserted that OE had an option to put the sig at the bottom, so I queried here.

Hi, Howard ~

Talk about hostile.

The option to put your sig at the bottom applies to messages that are initiated from the the sender's client, but never on replies in OE.

Duly noting your right to disagree, a signature at the bottom of a message, dissertation, correspondence, document - what have you, electronic or otherwise, nonetheless is the accepted & established standard de facto and has been since the annals of written time:

Signature:

Personal information
appended to a message by the sender of an e-mail message or USENET posting in order to add a human touch. Signatures, which are optional, usually carry the sender's real name and e-mail address, and may also include the writer's occupation, telephone number, and the URL of his or her home page. Many have a short quote, motto or slogan, and a few incorporate ASCII art.

~ Tiscali Dictionary of Computers, Multi-Media and the Internet

Sig"na*ture (?), n. [F. (cf. It. signatura, segnatura, Sp. & LL. signatura), from L. signare, signatum. See Sign, v. t.]

1. A sign, stamp, or mark impressed, as by a seal.

2. Especially, the name of any person, written with his own hand, employed to signify that the writing which
precedes accords with his wishes or intentions; a sign manual; an autograph.

~ Webster Dictionary

Your query did specify a means to have the signature placed at the bottom, instead of the top, in a reply posting, as are your replies herein. My reply, to-wit, does offer those means.

Re: Location of signatures (OE 6)

Webster's definition is consistent with sig at top IF the reply is above the sig.
