IF Formula (Excel 97)

I have not touched Excel for a few months and have become extremely rusty.

I am looking for the formula to calculate GST on a purchase IF it is GST Inclusive. In the attachment you will see I want GST calculated ONLY if there is a G in column A.

In C4 add something like (use the correct percentage):
<pre>=IF(UPPER(A4)="G",B4*0.05,"")</pre>

To display "nothing" if no "G"
or
<pre>=IF(UPPER(A4)="G",B4*0.05,0)</pre>

of you want to display a zero

Then in D4 enter:
<pre>=SUM(B4:C4)</pre>


Copy C44 down the columns

Thankyou Steve. You have helped me on my way. I thought I had it sorted, however, I wonder if I could turn this around a little.

I want to say if D8 is "F" then do nothing and if D8 is blank then Divide E8 by 11.
=IF(UPPER(D8)="F",0) - I can make this much happen but not sure how to add the rest.

=IF(UPPER(D8)="F",0,IF(ISBLANK(D8),E8/11,0))

But what if it is neither blank nor contains 'F'? The above formula will return zero, same as if it contains 'F"
