    Chinese Text (2000)

In an attempt to be able to produce Chinese characters in Word I have downloaded Global IME 5.02 from the Microsoft site and installed it. I have been unable to figure out how to use it and each time I endeavour to type something Winword causes an invalid page fault and Word crashes.Does anyone have any information that could help me or links to any websites that may give guidance?

    Hi Phil:
Not sure I can help, but can you post the exact error message that you get?

Also, would <!mskb=216596>Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 216596<!/mskb> & <!mskb=212400>Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 212400<!/mskb> help in using it?

    Re: Chinese Text (2000)

I will have to reinstall everything to do this as I completely uninstalled the IME after it refused to run. Give me a little time and I will get back to you. Meanwhile, the MS KB article 216596 seems to refer to a 4 disk Office Multi language pack which I do not have. I downloaded the IME together with language support from the Msoft site and installed that. I then had to insert one of my Office 2000 disks to complete the setup.

I have reinstalled everything and here is the error message I got when trying to insert text.

WINWORD caused an invalid page fault in

I started Word again and it hasn't crashed yet but I am unable to work out how to insert Chinese characters. Clicking on various icons doesn't seem to work and many times results in a new dialog box which is incomplete, just short horizontal lines where options should be, etc.

I am beginning to think the whole exercise may be beyond me!!

Hmmm. I searched the kb for the error message here. I don't know if any of those articles will apply to you, but you might look at them.
    Hope this helps,
