The developers of AIDA32 have announced that all further development has stopped. Further information can be found here

Thanks for the heads-up, Bob. I am sure that many will be sorry to see this application pass into history.

    Re: The passing of AIDA32

I tried to download from the Lavalys site but am having difficulty getting there. Probably as you suggested... everyone trying at the same time. I noticed that the company was just formed recently and is located in Montreal, Quebec Canada with a research site in Hungary. Lavalys probably bought the software from Tamas Miklos, the developer of AIDA.

    Re: The passing of AIDA32

Of the alternatives suggested, Lavalys Everest Home Edition is like a twin of AIDA32, I had to doublecheck to make sure I had not started AIDA32.
I did find their servers a bit slow - possibly due to many AIDA32 users checking out the alternative.

That's really too bad. Why is that the good things get dumped and the mediocre hang on forever?

Well, hold on to your copy of AIDA32 and use it until it's outdated.

They didn't actually say why they had stopped -- do you have any idea (other than that they probably weren't making any money from it)?

    Re: The passing of AIDA32

Having had a chance to use AIDA 32 & Lavalys Everest Home edition side by side, they are the same program with some changes to the menus. The core of the two programs is the same. As Bob mentioned it appears that AIDA 32 has been sold to Lavalys. Hopefully they will continue to update the freeware version.

    Re: The passing of AIDA32

In an earlier post, Tony had comment on the similarity of AIDA32 and the new product being offered by Lavalys. On another of Lavalys' pages they state: "Lavalys is a privately held company that is headquartered in Montreal (Canada) with sales and R&D offices in Hungary and Italy." . I'm thinking that Tamas (the Hungarian developer of AIDA) sold to Lavalys... and is the R&D component referred to in the Lavalys statement.

    Just a wild guess...

    Cheers, Bob

Edited: 14:00 - looks like we were keyboarding at the same time Tony!!! <g>

Tony, you might have been the first, and possibly the last, to successfully log in and grab Lavalys' Home Edition. I've been trying, unsuccessfully, all day. I can get to the page for downloading but the links are not live.

    Viking,

According to your state flag, we are in the same time zone. My last attempt was at 1430 EST, but again, the download link was not a live link. I was thinking that they must have removed the live link to prevent major downloading.

    Hi Bob

Just tried it again, got through straight away and downloaded the file (via dsl) all in less than 1 minute. It may be time to try again.

    Bob,
I tried it again and all was OK. The link was indeed live.
    Keep trying.

    Re: The passing of AIDA32

    Thanks Tony,

Just tried again and no go. Then I remembered that I had a similar problem downloading a Nero update because of some setting in my Zone Alarm. I turned off ZA and was able to see the download button... which wasn't there when ZA was active. Sheesh, I could have had the file hours ago if I remembered the ZA glitch!!!

    Cheers,

    Bob

ZoneAlarm....now there's one program that I wish development of would cease! You should not have to remember a 'glitch' to have a successful download. <img src=/S/notmyfault.gif border=0 alt=notmyfault width=15 height=15>
