Problems with .PDF files and IE (IE 6.0)

A few employees in our company are unable to view .PDF files from IE. When they click a link that points to a .PDF file, they get a blank window, with the white box / red X placeholder for graphics. If they rightclick the link and download the .PDF instead, they CAN successfully open the .PDF straight from Adobe Reader. I've tried updating IE. I've tried most of the things that the MS Knowledgebase and posts here say to try to fix the Red X syndrome. I've upgraded the Acrobat Reader to 6.0, but nothing is working. Anyone have any ideas of what else to try? I thought I'd turn off/on the thing that allows .PDFs to open in IE, and force the Adobe program to launch, then open the file...but I can't remember how to make that happen. Any advice would be appreciated. - Sat.

To toggle browser settings in Reader go to Edit | Preferences | Internet. Then check/un-check what you wish.

Thank you Joe - that DID end up resolving the problem, once I turned off the option to open PDFs in the browser.

    I appreciate it!

How do you turn off the option to view pdf through the browser? I don't see that anywhere under Internet Options>Advanced. I am having the same problem on a new (2 wk old) XP machine. I have Adobe Acrobat full version installed and have never noticed the problem until today. Thanks.

    Pam,
I don't have a version of Acrobat to check. But, I'd guess you should look in the Preferences in Acrobat not IE.

    Joe,
Thanks. I needed to go to Prefrences> General rather than Prefrences>Internet Options in Acrobat.
