read only - 'access denied' (windows xp)

We have an access program in our office that does various things. But for some reason, one user, can't access this program anymore. It says that it is a read only file when you try to open it but it is not designated as a read only file in the file properties. We cannot delete it, move it, rename it, copy over it, delete it from DOS, delete the folder containing the file, compact or repair it. Each time, it says "access denied". All other users in the office can access this program. How can we remove this file from the computer so that we can copy a good version over? We are running Windows XP and Office XP on a Dell Inspiron 8200 laptop.

Log into Windows XP on the laptop as Administrator (or equivalent). You should then be able to check the permissions the user has on the folder containing the database, and on the database itself. The users needs full modify (read/write/create/delete) permissions on the folder. Only if this is already the case, delete the database and install a new copy.

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, the powers that be need to log on as an administrator (unless I can get them to give me the password). Will work on this tomorrow.
