    Distribution List from Excel (6.00.2800.1123)

    I have an Excel "database" of several hundred records that contains, among other things, fields for FirstName, LastName and EmailAddress. I need to send the same email to each individual person in my database. Is there any easy way I can create a distribution list? <img src=/S/help.gif border=0 alt=help width=23 height=15>

    Try saving the Excel file in the Comma Separated Value format. OE can import CSV addresses - under File|Import|AOther Address Book - the last item. You may have to experiment with leaving out column headings to get it right. HTH

    Yes, this method works fine, except that it will import and MERGE all email addresses with those in my personal address book. I need to keep the imported addresses as a separate Distribution List. <img src=/S/scratch.gif border=0 alt=scratch width=25 height=29>

    If you're looking to create an OE group, I suggest that you ring fence the import. <UL><LI>Make a backup copy of the OE Address Book. (The location is in Help|About in the Address Book.) <LI>Clear out the entire contents of your "live" AB. <LI>Import your Excel file. <LI>Take all the current contents of your AB and use it to create a Group in the AB. <LI>restore your old addresses from the Backup: File|Import|Address Book.[/list]HTH
