What can cause extream CPU usage (Wind XP, Office 2003)

I have a template that seems to cause Word to use 100 % CPU when saving or opening the document.

What type of code can cause Word to use so much CPU?

I try to attach a zip file showing the code.

Hope someone can give me a clue!

    Thanks

You don't really expect us to read 31 pages with over 1800 lines of code, do you? <img src=/S/shocked.gif border=0 alt=shocked width=15 height=15>

Try pressing Ctrl+Break during the opening or saving of the document. This should pause the code being executed (if any), you may be able to find out which part takes so much time.

    1. Make sure Journaling is off in Outlook.
    2. Make sure that if you have Norton AV, that you aren't using the Office plug-in.
    3. If it's being caused by an add-in, try following the steps in <post#=197827>post 197827</post#>.
    Cheers,

    Hans,

My keyboard doesn't have a Break key. Do you mean Control-Escape or is my keyboard deficient?

Laptop, I presume? On a standard keyboard, the Pause/Break key is to the right of Print Screen and Scroll Lock, above Page Up.

But you can also have the VBE open and select Run | Break, or click the Break button on the toolbar (the Pause icon)

    Ctrl+Esc opens the Start menu.

    Thanks Hans,

Soory but it was not the intension to make you read all the code. Thought perhaps that it would show the way the code was made that could indicate a reason for taking so long time.

I will anyway check all the sugestions that have come in.

    Regards

Re: What can cause extream CPU usage (Wind XP, Office 2003)

    Thanks for the help.

Only have a Global template that is used for some things.

I will also try to turn off "Allow background saves" in the Tools/Option/Save to see if any effect.

    Thaks!

    Regards
