    Some messages won't send (2003)

    Hi.

I'm being driven spare by Outlook (although to be fair it may not be Outlook) - some of my emails just won't send.

You know how you get the closed enveloped sign in the Outbox when an email will send? And that sometimes (if you open it from the Outbox and close it again without hitting send, for example) you get an open envelope icon, and it won't send? Well, on some emails it goes straight to the "open envelope" icon when I hit send, and not amount of tweaking or creating the message will make it go.

I have permanently disabled the Outlook junk mail filter.
I run Spam Bully, so I wondered if it was this. I turned it off, but the problem still happens.
I run Norton Internet Security Professional (NISP) 2004, so I turned that off, too, but the problem still happens.
I also have Norton Anti-spam, which came with NISP, but I can't seem to turn that off (the toolbars keep coming back, even though I turned Anti-spam off in the Norton control panel, removed the add-in from Outlook and deleted the toolbar from Outlook). As far as I can tell, it's not doing anything, though, and the problem still happens.

The problem seemed to happen once I was running NISP 2004, but that could be my imagination. Certainly, turning things off as far as I am able doesn't seem to help. But not all mail messages do it - that is the really frustrating thing - so I am assuming that it is some sort of content filtering thingy.

    Help, please!

    EDITED FOOTNOTE:

I've just uninstalled NISP 2004, and the problem has gone away. For once, it looks as if it's not Outlook's fault, and I shall now go and shout at Symantec at lot.

I'm afraid you may be wasting precious breath there, Symantec is very good at appearing deaf...not unlike my six year old....!

I'm afraid you may be wasting precious breath there, Symantec is very good at appearing deaf.. Amen to that. I have found the same response. Perhaps they have become too big something like another software giant I can think of.

I think this phenomenon tends to happen in many support departments, but it gets exponentially worse as the corporation's size increases. Tech support is a demanding, yet low paying, position, so it's little wonder that this happens. Still...in an ideal world... <img src=/S/pinkelefant.gif border=0 alt=pinkelefant width=20 height=20>
