    Pivot Tables (97)

    Can someone direct me to a simple basic exlanation of the use of pivot tables?
    Based on what I think they do, I think I should be making use of them...
    For instance, can they be used to "transpose" a table as follows:
    For my base data, my rows include pay period date (col A), job number (col [img]/forums/images/smilies/cool.gif[/img], and hours charged (col C).
    I want to rearrange it into a table where I have job number (col A) and the corresponding hours in columns B on up, where column B would be the earliest pay period date, column C would be two weeks later, and on and on...

    You might try googling on "pivot table" example and look at some of the hits.
