Desktop toolbar menu listing

In a fairly recent newsletter, which I can't find at the moment, Woody talked about the Desktop toolbar, and how you can reorder the desktop icons in the pop-up listing by clicking and dragging. I am not able to have the list remain reordered following a system reboot. Does anyone know if that's the way it is, or if there could be something wrong with my system? (Win2K, SR1).

Thanks!

Re: Desktop toolbar menu listing

Hi Lynn,

It's been my experience that you can re-order the pop-up menu that you create on the taskbar, but if you add or remove an item from the actual desktop, it can automatically sort the pop-up menu by name after you reboot. I haven't spent much time troubleshooting that particular problem since I keep it there primarily for access to My Documents, My Computer and Network Places.

Thanks for trying to help me out on this, Dave. I must not be understanding what you're telling me, though, because I don't see how this relates to keeping a reordered menu listing of desktop icons in the Desktop toolbar.

thank you; I will try this and see if it works. I may have added something to the desktop and not realized it.

Strangely enough, I also tried in vain to locate this article.
One thing that may be of use is to know where the info is stored - (don't ask how long it took me to find it on mine).
Should be in:
Documents and SettingsyournameApplication DataMicrosoftInternet ExplorerQuick Launch
Whatever the name of the shortcut there is the 'popup' description.
