Our school system uses a student information system containing .dbf data files. Using Access 97 we could link to these files and perform updates to the data. However, in Access 2000 these linked files are read-only. I read that if we get the Borland Database Engine (BDE) then we could once again be able to update the data.
Has anyone else run into this problem? How do you determine what version of the BDE you need? Where can it be obtained and what is the cost?
