Error After backup Cannot access C Drive (Windows

After I restore a file to my hard drive from a usb external drive that did the original backup. . The backup software successfully backs up the file, but then gives an ERROR message "Cannot access c:"
Backup my PC says this is a windows xp issue. But I have full file permissions set for system, everyone and administrator, and it did not do this on my old usb backup hard drive with the same software. I was advised to go to the following but did not seem to help. Any one come across this issue before??
This is a Microsoft issue. Please go to the following link for directions on how to solve the problem.

Do I understand you correctly that you ARE able to successfully backup to the USB drive, AND selectively restore a file back to the PC from the drive? If it is in fact restoring the file and THEN yields this access error, it doesn't sound like an ownership or permissions problem to me. However I admit to having no experience with BackupMyPC so I can't say what the answer is. What happens next, i.e. after the access error? Is the computer and the backup program still running OK or are you locked up or something drastic?

You are correct on all accounts. Everything works everything gets restored just the report show this. The company says this is a microsoft problem and refers to to the knowledge article as posted. Actually this only happened when i bought the exact usb backup hard drive from the same company as a 60gig vs a 30 gig before. Everything else is the same. So really makes no sense to me.
