Need Decompressors for AVI? (OFFICE 2000 SR-1)

I have an EU who created some AVI files at home and tried to add them to his PowerPoint presentation. It came up with a a box that was shaded and the words VIDS:MJPG decompressor. On his home PC it works fine. But on his work pc its shaded out.

I then found another AVI file on my server, inserted it into his PPT on the work pc and it played. Are there different decompressor's out there for PPT and where can I find them?

    Thanks

From that message, it appears that the AVI files were encoded using the Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) CODEC that is used in Canon digital cameras and various other devices. QuickTime can view AVIs in this format. I believe we have had posts about other sources, perhaps on the Software Finds and Wants board??

Try TAJ's tip for fixing these. http://www.powerpointbackgrounds.com/powerpointtips.htm In a nutshell, just rename the AVI with an MPG extension instead. Believe it or not, it usually works!
