    Reinstating drivers

This is the first time I've tried this so I'm a little in the dark. On my old system, I used a program called WinDriversBackup Personal Edition.....by JerMar Software Corp to make backups of all the drivers on the system. These included those for the soundcard, the originals of which I do not have. This old box has since scored a replacement HD and a new install of 98SE. When it boots, Win is finding "new hardware" and asking for the following drivers:

    Re: Reinstating drivers

    Hi Alan:
I can't match the names, BUT...are these drivers on a CD? If you point Windows to search the CD, hopefully, it will identify the correct ones.

Edited by Bigaldoc to add URL code.[/i] See the Quick Guide.

Hey mate, I get a lot more than I give to Woody's so it's about time I contributed, even if only mostly bad news.
My system isn't real flash either...I find I'm having to reformat every few months or so just to give it from bogging down forever. Driver's are the biggest pain in the you-know-what ever if you don't have the original disk, especially for sound cards. They do exist though! It took me a lot of searching, but I found a site for my old Creative Soundblaster card.... http://www.crazydave.com/drivers/default.htm . Maybe "crazy" or a similar site you can find in a search engine will help with your card.
When you get the driver, being so old, you may find they work in funny ways. Mine you have to execute as an application before (somehow) it turns itself into a driver. You can't just put the machine in the direction of the file. Makes sense? Nah, not a bit! (that's why I keep coming back here for help myself)
