    Win98 Wont Start

    All of a suddent, my machine will not start Windows. As soon as I see Windows loading I get "It is not safe to turn off your computer" message.

    I am however able to boot on Safe Mode.

    What can I do to fix this?

    So the problem is that when it boots, it immediately shuts down? I would try re-running Windows 98 setup if things are munged up that badly.

    You could try {scanreg /restore}

    On Windows 98 systems:
    Tap on the F8 key when the system is starting up. This will take you to the windows 98 startup menu. Once there you will need to choose "Command Prompt Only". Press enter. You should now be at a "C" prompt. Type "scanreg /restore" and press enter. The system should run the program and give you a list of dates on the screen to choose from. Choose the last date when the system was working correctly and press enter. The system will restore it and ask you hit ok. Do so and the system will automatically reboot
